Church planting was the pattern in the book of Acts for the Great Commission to be fleshed out as the apostle Paul traveled on his missionary journeys to plant, revisit, and exhort churches throughout the Mediterranean region. Today the pattern continues as churches are needed in areas where there is a lack of sound Bible-teaching churches led by humble shepherds that patiently and perseveringly serve by establishing new churches and being committed to laying a solid foundation from the beginning.
This class will give an introduction to church planting and examine what the Bible has to say about having a biblical ecclesiology, a doctrine of the church that is grounded in Scripture and also committed to having a sound philosophy of ministry that takes biblical principles and focuses on laying a foundation of godly leadership, a commitment to evangelism and discipleship, a practical understanding of church membership, and a clear understanding of peacemaking and conflict resolution, which is a reality that any church will face.
There will be a focus on laying the foundations for church planting and the initial years of church development and especially a focus on raising up godly leaders who will be trustworthy and God-fearing men who will keep their eyes focused on the head of the church, Jesus Christ.
